China needs energy sources, new technologies and food, and it thinks it need Taiwan. Stress fractures within and without include a growing distrust toward China by the interntional community regarding China geopolitical strategies: Belt and Road initiative, island-building in the South China Sea, massive weapons buildup, the persecution of 13 million Muslim Uyghurs, China's growing carbon emissions and of course COVID-19. Modern China cannot be ignored. Therefore, without compromising democratic principles, what can be done to help China be on better terms with the world?
