The Big Wet has arrived in the ruggedly, beautiful town of Broome in Western Australia. The temperature went from 41 Celsius to 24, flooding the roads, and when the downpour stopped all was enveloped in steam. The Irukandji with their lethal sting will now arrive on Cable Beach. Anyone stung will have half an hour to get to treatment while the toxin fills them with a sense of impending gloom. And all the while sea crocodiles lurk. They chase their quarry onto land and the best way to shake them off is to run sideways and NOT in a straight line.
