Authoritarian capitalism

Why has Kazakhstan suspended work on the huge Kashagan oil field? The government says it’s because of environmental concerns. The industry says Kazakhstan wants to tear up old agreements and force through new ones with Western oil companies. Have you heard that before with Russia in Sakhalin? Interested?  Read The History Book, check out the great upcoming non-fiction  Steve Levine The Oil and the Glory  then   look at Azar Gat in Foreign Affairs,  The Return of Authoritarian Great Powers, you’ll find the facts behind what Kat comes face to face with when she breaks into the Kazakh embassy in Washington D.C.
